Northern Territory Tourism Commission
In 2001/02, tourism is estimated to
have contributed over $1 billion directly
to the Territory economy. The total
worth of the tourism industry (including
indirect effects) is estimated at just
over $2 billion for the year. Territory
tourism is estimated to account for
over 15,000 jobs in the Territory (directly
and indirectly).
Northern Territory Visitors Centre
Visit National Parks, see ancient
aboriginal art and habitat sites,
go bird watching, photograph some
amazing creatures in their natural
habitat, or just soak up the silence.
Ayers Rock
Uluru and Kata Tjuta are among the
world's great natural wonders. Owned
by the traditional Aboriginal people,
there is a great deal to enjoy in
this Park, including the magnificent
views, photography, sunset and sunrise
over the Rock and walks up and around
both the rock and the Olgas. No camping
is allowed in the Park, and rangers
run activities and tours in Yulara.
Darwin
Considering the size of Darwin and
the tropical outdoor lifestyle,
it comes as no surprise that their
is plenty to see and do in Darwin
itself, let alone the rest of the
Top End.
Kakadu National Park
Abundant bird life, saltwater crocodiles,
fruit bats and fish make the Reserve
a haven for the boating, fishing,
photography or wildlife enthusiast.
